The last spring frost date is the average date after which frost is unlikely in your area. The first fall frost date is when frost typically returns. These dates define your growing season and determine when to plant warm-season crops like tomatoes and peppers, which are killed by frost.

When should I start seeds indoors?

It depends on the crop. Slow-growing warm-season crops like peppers and eggplant should be started 8-10 weeks before your last frost. Tomatoes need 6-8 weeks.
