How to Use This Tool

1. Add roommates — Enter each person's name in the Roommates tab to set up your household.
2. Log expenses — Switch to the Expenses tab, enter who paid, the amount, a category, and choose how to split it (equal, custom amounts, or percentages).
3. Check balances — The Balances tab shows who owes money and who is owed, updated automatically after each expense.
4. Settle up — View the optimized settlement plan that minimizes the number of payments needed to clear all debts.
5. Share with roommates — Use the Share Balances button to copy an encoded link that anyone can open without creating an account.

Common Use Cases

• How do we split rent and utilities fairly? Log each bill as it comes in and let the app track running balances so nobody overpays.
• One roommate paid for groceries — who owes what? Add the expense, split it equally or by custom amounts, and the app calculates each share.
• How do we settle up at the end of the month? The settlement plan shows the fewest payments needed so everyone is even.
• We have uneven room sizes — can we split rent unevenly? Use custom amount or percentage splits to assign different shares to each roommate.
• How do I show my roommates what they owe? Copy the shareable link to send a summary of all balances without needing anyone to sign up.
