Rook (飛): Any distance horizontally or vertically

Gold (金): One square forward, sideways, diagonally forward, or backward (6 directions - NOT diagonally backward)
Silver (銀): One square forward or diagonally (5 directions - NOT sideways or straight back)
Knight (桂): L-shape: 2 forward + 1 sideways (jumps over pieces!)
Lance (香): Any distance forward only
Pawn (歩): One square forward only
Promoted Rook (龍): As Rook + one square diagonally
Promoted Bishop (馬): As Bishop + one square orthogonally
