象棋 Chinese Chess (Xiangqi)

Moves one point orthogonally (up, down, left, right). Confined to the 3×3 palace. Cannot face the opposing General directly.

Moves one point diagonally. Confined to the 3×3 palace area.

Moves exactly two points diagonally. Cannot jump over pieces. Cannot cross the river.

Moves one point orthogonally then one point diagonally outward. Can be blocked by pieces adjacent to it.

Moves any number of points orthogonally. Most powerful piece. Cannot jump over other pieces.

Moves like the Chariot but must jump over exactly one piece to capture. Unique to Chinese Chess!

Moves one point forward. After crossing the river, can also move sideways. Never moves backward or promotes.
